Independent Congressional candidate

I am Bruce Walczak and please allow me to introduce myself. I am running for Congress in the5th District as a longtime registered Independent.

We have many issues affecting the nation and Connecticut. The economy, health care, immigration, climate, education, Social Security, equal rights, abortion, guns, and others. These issues, by necessity, need to be solved on a national basis and by Congressional action. They are not new issues, yet they have been left to fester and grow over the years. The ball has been kicked down the road year after year, health care is a perfect example.

The inability of Congress to work together in a nonpartisan and collaborative basis is the fundamental barrier to addressing and making progress in solving these issues. The tribalism of the Democrat and Republican parties has gotten increasingly dysfunctional. Divisions have been magnified and heels have been dug in on almost all issues. Meaningful discussion on policies and solutions has simply stopped.

Without a functioning Congress no progress will be made.

We can, here in the 5th District, begin to fix our government in Washington. The Independent Party of Connecticut, and its candidates, provide a way to begin having meaningful discussions in Congress. Independents don’t have allegiance to a party, we have allegiance to the Constitution and the American people. We are committed to attacking problems from all directions and arriving at the best solutions possible.

We can start making our government be more responsive to our nation and the American people’s needs a step at a time. The first step is to elect an Independent Candidate to the 5th Congressional seat.

I am committed to working with all sides of the aisle, hearing all opinions and possible solutions. Collaboration is a must-have ingredient to solving these important issues. Being Independent eliminates party dictums. Party bosses cannot threaten me into agreeing to a hardened, take-no-prisoner position. We need to break this log jam, and electing Independent candidates is a major step forward.
