Mats H. Engstrom

Mats H. Engstrom of New Milford, CT, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Danbury, CT at the age of 53.

He was born February 8, 1967 in Stockholm Sweden, son of Inga (Boberg) Engstrom and the late Gunnar Engstrom. He moved to Stamford, CT in 1983 with his family and graduated from Stamford High School in

1986, followed by some classes at WCSU. In 1995, he married Karen Bass. They lived in Danbury before moving to New Milford in 1998. Mats was the President of J.S. Dental Manufacturing in Ridgefield, CT for

34 years. He met his wife Karen at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield in the early 90’s and proceeded to be an integral part of the church, singing in the choir, helping with the summer musicals, and serving on numerous boards and committees, among other things. He loved to work with his hands, especially on cars and was a self taught jack-of-all-trades. His great sense of humor, and his kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, as he was always willing to jump in to lend a hand.

Besides his wife and mother, Mats is survived by his sons Andrew, Timothy, and Daniel Engstrom, brother Krister Engstrom, and granddaughter Anabelle Engstrom, along with countless other family and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private at this time with a memorial service and burial at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Church of New Fairfield.
