Kathryn “Kay” (FitzSimons) Ozanne

Kathryn Fitzsimons Ozanne, known to most people as “Kay,” age 97 of Newtown, passed away January 3, 2021 after a long illness. She was born in New London, CT April 24, 1923 a daughter of William C. and Catherine (Ryan) FitzSimons. Kay was a 1940 graduate of what is now The Williams School in New London. A resident of Newtown since 1949, Kay was the Secretary at Sandy Hook School from 1963 to 1997. She was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ozanne and her cats Munchkin and Mr. Kitty. Kay is survived by her two daughters, Denise Ozanne of Newtown and Adele Ozanne of Stamford. Through the miracle of the computer genealogy, many cousins of whom she was previously unaware of now survive her as well. Kay will be remembered as a gracious and kind person who never failed to throw in some Irish humor when she could. Kay’s family wishes to thank all her friends, neighbors, and care givers who were so kind and supportive of her during the long years of her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. There will be room for 75 people. The Mass will be livestream­ed at www. strosechur­ch.com (then click on voice of St. Rose) for those who wish to watch long distance. Interment will be Monday January 11, 2021 at 12:00 noon at River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach St., Westerly, RI. All are welcome, social distancing will be observed.
