-

Edward Francis “Ed” Burns, age 63 of Danbury, died January

13, 2021 at Regional Hospice, Danbury with his wife and son at his side, after courageously battling a short illness.

Ed was born in Danbury, CT June 21, 1957 to the late Arthur J. Burns and Mary Ann (Slaving) Burns. He is survived by his wife Holly A (Nesline) Burns of

24 years; proud father of only son, Eddie (Nicky) Burns of New Milford; two grandchildren, Kamryn and Brody; mother-inlaw, Roslyn Nesline of Bethel; brother-in-law, Bobby(Connie) Nesline of Ridgefield, CT and brother-in-law, Brian Nesline of Buffalo, NY; sister-in-law, Cindy Nesline of Danbury, CT; nephew, Adam Nesline of Buffalo, NY and several cousins.

If anyone knew Ed, they knew he was a car enthusiast. His passion started early, in the pits with his racing buddies at Danbury Fair Raceway. Ed also enjoyed the Marcus Dairy Saturday night car show along with many other local shows. He was a member of the car club, The Loose Nuts. Both he and his wife enjoyed “cruisin” with the group in Ed’s 7-UP Mustang to car shows throughout CT and New York. The highlight was the Annual Endless Summer Cruise event in Ocean City, MD. Ed was at his happiest driving his Mustang in the parade on the boardwalk. He had the gift to gab, with whomever wanted to talk cars. Ed was also a big NASCAR fan, if there was a race happening Ed was surely watching it.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Ed was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, and worked in the automotive industry for 45 years. Until his retirement in 2017. He was a true Danburian, always reminiscing about the “good old days” in Danbury. If there was a trivia game of Danbury – Ed would be the winner. He loved his town.

Ed was a devoted loving husband and best friend to his wife Holly. He looked forward to their weekly breakfast date at the Holiday Diner. He was a kindhearted man and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Due to the current circumstances of the Covid pandemic, a celebration of Ed’s life will take place at a later date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice and Homecare of Western CT, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810
