Vineyard to host art shows
The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut has partnered with Aquila’s Nest Vineyards, of Newtown, to present an outdoor art show inspired by the world of birds.
Artists from Connecticut and New York are asked to submit proposals for two exhibits, “Nesting,” which will run from June to September, and “Migration,” running from September to November. The exhibitions are expected to be the first of many Cultural Alliance Accessible Art Projects to take advantage of Aquila’s Nest Vineyards’ outdoor spaces.
Submissions are open to artists 18 and up who live in Western Connecticut and in the New York counties of Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam and Westchester. Works must be three-dimensional or an assembly of works, of original design, not smaller than 10 cubic feet, and offered for sale. Materials must be durable for outdoor exhibition and exposure to the elements.
The deadline to submit entries for both shows is April 30. To submit, visit http://bit.ly/accessibleart or http://www.cawct.org. return to the performing arts.
The spring program, which runs from April to June, consists of three unique workshops led by Miss Stacie and Miss Anya.
The “45 Minutes from Broadway” program celebrates the show tunes of George M. Cohan, and students will work on their acting, singing, and dancing skills while getting a glimpse into the “golden age” of musicals.
The “20 Plays in 20 Minutes” program is geared to those with interests in acting and is an opportunity for kids to play a variety of characters and improve their comedic skills. In this race against the clock to perform 20 plays in 20 minutes, students will work in small groups to create hilarious short skits and scenes. Both workshops have two classes, one for grades three to five and one for grades six through nine.
