Charis Chamber Voices to introduce new artistic director
The Charis Chamber Voices musical group is introducing its new artistic director, Jeremy Wiggins, in two live performance concerts each at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12.
The musical group is welcoming audience members back to celebrate the holiday season with songs ranging from the early Baroque era in history to current times.
The Dec. 11 concert is at the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco. The church is located at 605 Millwood Rd., Route 133, in Mount Kisco, N.Y.
The Dec. 12 concert is at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. The church is located at the Village Green in Bedford, N.Y.
The general program includes Christmas musical works by German Baroque professionals Dietrich Buxtehude, Georg Philipp Telemann, and Heinrich Schütz, contemporary classics by composer John Tavener, and others, and composer, and symphonist, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols.”
In the tradition of Charis Christmas concerts, the audience will be invited to join in carol singing. There will be a wine and cheese reception after the concert.
Tickets are $25, $20 for senior citizens and $15 for students.
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Charis website at charisvocals.com or at the door of each performance.
Charis singers have all received COVID-19 vaccinations. Audience members will need to show proof of vaccination and to wear masks.
After an extensive search and audition process, Charis named Wiggins its artistic director in 2020 to succeed Arthur Sjögren, who retired after a long, celebrated conducting career. Wiggins is also assistant professor of music, and coordinator of choral activities and graduate studies at Western Connecticut State University. Wiggins lives in Brookfield.
