College students to present ‘Noises Off’ comedy play

The students in the Western Connecticu­t State University Department of Theatre Arts are presenting the department’s live production of the comedy play, “Noises Off,” in the Mainstage Theatre of the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticu­t State University.

The play will be performed at 8 p.m. on Friday, at 2 p.m. and at 8 p.m. on Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25, plus fees, for general admission seating. Tickets are available at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com. There are also tickets for $15, plus fees, for senior citizens, children ages 12 and under, and group tickets. Western Connecticu­t State University student tickets are $10 plus fees. The production is suitable for people ages 10 and over.

All ticket sales are final. Masks will need to be worn amid the coronaviru­s pandemic, and three feet social distancing will be enforced in the Visual and Performing Arts Center.

The Visual and Performing Arts Center is located at 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

The show is also a playwithin-a-play, and is directed by Western Connecticu­t State University Department of Theatre Arts Pam McDaniel.

“Noises Off” is about what goes on behind the general stage, and is named for the sounds coming offstage during a performanc­e. The play was so successful that it was made into a movie in 1992 starring actress Carol Burnett and actor Michael Caine.

The main cast of character roles for “Noises Off,” will include: Colleen Callahan, of Easton, as Dotty; Sydney Campbell, of Dudley, Mass., as Belinda; Ryan Charles Henry, of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., as Selsdon; Jacob Erdody, of Milford, N.H., as Tim; Michael Moriarty, of West Haverstraw, N.Y., as Frederick; Tom O'Leary, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.,, as Lloyd; Ashley Raymond, of Ridgefield, as Brooke; Will Stewich, of Shrewsbury, Mass., as Garry; and Tina Vlamis, of Prospect, Connecticu­t as Poppy.
