City encourages kid vaccines with holiday-themed clinic
DANBURY — Health care workers have been encouraging COVID-19 vaccinations for months, but now even Santa Claus may be jumping on board.
Old St. Nick is “rumored” to visit a holidaythemed COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children on Saturday, according to the city of Danbury.
The Danbury Health and Human Services Department has partnered with Community Health Center, Inc., Griffin Health and local businesses to host the clinic from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Danbury War Memorial gym. COVID vaccines will be provided for kids 5 to 18.
The special holidaythemed event will allow children to make a craft, get a goodie bag and interact with Danbury emergency responders from the police and fire departments. Children will be greeted with holiday decorations and cheer.
The Danbury Health and Human Services Department and CHC will provide vaccinations for 5to 11-year-olds; Griffin Health will administer vaccines for residents age 12 to 18. No appointments are needed.
In addition to receiving a vaccine, residents will receive a 20 percent discount to Thrillz & Jumpz, and one person will receive two free tickets to “A Christmas Wish” musical at the Palace Theater on Main Street.
This clinic is free and no proof of insurance is needed.
Another vaccination clinic for all ages will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Police Athletic League building at 35 Hayestown Road. Griffin Health and the state health department are sponsoring the clinic. Booster shots and pediatric vaccines will be available. The clinic will offer Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson.
