SOUTHBURY- With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, wife, sister and friend MaryAnn Kendall on December 22, 2021. Born on January 28th, 1947 to the late Renee (Landini) and Leo VanGrowski in Bridgeport, CT. Her birth came as a surprise early gift on her Mother’s Birthday with her twin Helen.

Raised in Bridgeport, MaryAnn attended Catholic School and it was there that she found her deep faith in God to guide her.

On October 28th, 1967 MaryAnn wed Peter Kendall in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Helen to the late Russell Hunt.

They made their first home in Newtown, CT. MaryAnn gave birth to David then Christine and was devoted to raising her children. They all settled in Southbury in 1976. There she was involved in Sacred Heart Church, CCD, The Parks and Rec. Girl’s Softball team and volunteered at the Southbury Needy Fund.

Anyone that knew MaryAnn would agree she was devoted to her family. Not only her children and husband but her extended family of nieces and nephews, as well as, her twin sister and brother.

There was not anything she would not do for the family. A warm meal and a place to sleep was always available here in Connecticut and at her home in Florida. MaryAnn was also known as a wonderful friend. Her relationships stemmed from childhood and her friends are scattered about the country.

She leaves her husband Peter, daughter Christine Wargo (Brian), son David (Jason von Reyn), sister Helen (Fran Braco), brother Robert (Glenda), nephews, Michael (Katie), David (Marissa), Mark, and nieces Lauren, and Yvonne ( John). She also leaves her great-nieces and nephews Matteo, Luca, Cristiano, Mario, Aubrey, Hayden, Ava and Emery, sisters in law JoAnne Kendall and MaryAnn Anton, cousins Anna, Joyce, Arlene and Patty, and grand dogs Lucy, Sami, Ben and Tobie. She was preceded in death by her in-law’s Mildred and Henry, sister-in-law June, and her beloved aunts and uncles from the Landini and VanGrowski families.

MaryAnn fought a valiant battle with ALS and conquered life the way she wanted during her illness. Always with a smile and happy to see her friends and family by her side. Her deep faith in God guided her through uncharted territory. It was her faith that brought hope and a smile into her life every day until she was born to eternal life. MaryAnn jetted to heaven with this passage “Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”

A memorial mass will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to ALS Association CT Chapter, 4 Oxford Rd. Unit E, Milford CT 06460 or at www.ALS. org. To send an online condolence, visit www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
