Several area games impacted by COVID

Several area college athletic events have been impacted by COVID-19. Bridgeport men’s and women’s basketball: Due to institutio­nal health and safety protocols, the men’s and women’s basketball doublehead­er between Bridgeport and New Haven scheduled to be played on Thursday in Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium has been postponed. Make-up dates, if scheduled. will be announced at a later date.

The University of Bridgeport men’s and women’s basketball teams are now currently scheduled to return to the court on January 5, when the Purple Knights host an East Coast Conference doublehead­er versus the District of Columbia.

Fairfield men’s basketball:

In compliance with Covid-19 protocols, the Fairfield men’s basketball home games against Manhattan (Dec. 31) and Iona (Jan. 2) at Webster Bank Arena will not be played this weekend as originally scheduled. The University will provide updates when they become available. Fans who have purchased tickets for either game will be contacted directly when more informatio­n is available.

Fairfield women’s basketball: The Fairfield women’s basketball road game at Monmouth on New Year’s Day will not be played as originally scheduled. Fairfield’s home game against Iona at Webster Bank Arena on Thursday is still scheduled with a 7 p.m. tip.

New Haven men’s and women’s basketball:

The Chargers NE-10 doublehead­er with Adelphi scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.

Quinnipiac men’s basketball: Sunday’s men’s basketball home game against Rider will not be played as scheduled due to COVID issues.

Quinnipiac men’s hockey: Due to health and welfare protocols initiated within the Princeton men’s ice hockey program, the games against Quinnipiac scheduled for January 2-3 have been postponed. Makeup dates and times will be announced at a later date. Tickets to the January 3 ECAC Hockey game scheduled to be played at Hobey Baker Rink will be honored on the reschedule­d date.

Sacred Heart men’s hockey: This weekend’s men’s ice hockey contests between Sacred Heart and RIT at Webster Bank Arena have been postponed. Due to positive COVID-19 cases, the Pioneers do not have the required personnel to field a full team. Make up dates will be announced at a later time.

Sacred Heart women’s basketball:

Wednesday’s Northeast Conference opener for the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team at LIU was canceled. LIU was unable to compete due to COVID protocols, necessitat­ing the cancellati­on. Per the NEC’s Cancellati­on and Forfeit Policy, the game will be deemed a forfeit. LIU will be assigned a loss in the conference standings and Sacred Heart assigned a win. By NCAA policy, forfeits will not change a team’s official won-lost record, nor will they impact statistics or coaching records.

SCSU men’s basketball:

The Southern Connecticu­t men’s basketball team’s Northeast 10 Conference matchup against Pace, originally scheduled for Saturday has been postponed per the establishe­d institutio­nal and conference health protocols. A make up date has yet to be announced.
