Louise F. McDevitt
Louise F. McDevitt passed away on April 20, 2022, with her 5 loving children by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. McDevitt, Sr., and loving sister to the late Donald J. Lipsi and Justine R. Erdmann.
Born on February 10, 1926, to Antonio and Rose (Arnone) Lipsi, Louise was a lifelong resident of Danbury, where she attended Danbury schools and raised her family of 5 children. She was a lifelong and devout parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church where she was active with the Parish Lay Advisory Board, Catholic Religious Education Program, and a Eucharistic Minister. Louise enjoyed volunteer work with the Junior Service League, Danbury Regional Hospice, and the Women’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield, earning a service award in 2003. She joined the workforce as secretary for The Danbury Visiting Nurses Association, and then became Secretary to the Director of Public Affairs at Western Connecticut State University, until her retirement.
Her faith, family and friends were most important to her, but she also enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, family gatherings, and travel and beach vacations. She loved to cook, host, and entertain her many close friends.
Louise leaves behind her 5 loving children – Jean (Philip) Eslinger, Robert McDevitt Jr., Nancy (Brian)
McGoldrick, Lynn McDevitt and William McDevitt, as well as 10 grandchildren – Brian, Kyle, Dylan, Kelly, Kristen, Michael, Jessica, Peter, David, and Matthew (who all so lovingly called her “Grandma Weese”), along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Visiting Angels, Marivic and Miri, and to Western Connecticut Home Care nurses Erin and Kelly, for their dedication, support, compassion, and care for Louise.
