“The importance of high-speed, reliable internet access has never been more evident than it is right now.” Richard Clark, GoNetspeed’s chief executive officer.

An upstate New York high-speed internet service provider has released plans to expand its fiber optic network in Connecticut.

GoNetspeed, of Rochester, N.Y., provides service in several Hartford County communities, including Southington and West Hartford. The company has announced it plans to extend its service into two more Hartford County communities, four in New Haven County and two in Fairfield County.

The expansion includes the following communities:

⏩ Fairfield County: Fairfield, including Southport, and Trumbull

⏩ Hartford County: Enfield and Windsor Locks

⏩ New Haven County:

Branford, Cheshire, Naugatuck and Waterbury

GoNetspeed’s expansion offers consumers alternatives to high-speed service provided by Norwalk-based Frontier Communications and cable television companies.

GoNetspeed’s expansion in Branford will include service to over 8,900 locations, more than 5,000 in Cheshire, more than 12,800 in Naugatuck and more than 18,500 in Waterbury. Service in Branford, Cheshire and Naugatuck is expected to be available late this summer with fiber optic cable connections in Waterbury available sometime this fall, according to company officials.

“The importance of highspeed, reliable internet access has never been more evident than it is right now,” said Richard Clark, GoNetspeed’s chief executive officer.

“What many people don’t appreciate until they have access to gigabit fiber is that it provides symmetrical speeds, meaning faster upload and download speeds,” Clark said. “This is a huge benefit to households that work from home, school from home, watch multiple TVs, view doorbell and security cameras and demand unparalleled performance for all their internet-related activities.”

The expansion of GoNetspeed’s network in Hartford County is in Enfield, where service will be available later this summer to over 7,000 homes and businesses, and in Windsor Locks, where 4,864 homes and businesses will be added late this spring.

GoNetspeed’s expansion in Fairfield County will make fiber optic service available to nearly 9,000 homes. The company’s expansion into Fairfield, including Southport, will be available sometime this summer while extending the fiber optic network into Trumbull will be available in the fall.

GoNetspeed offers residential internet speeds, ranging from 150 megabits per second to 1 gigabit per second. The company serves residential and business customers in Connecticut and eight other states.
