Marie Jeannine (Prevost) Clarke
Marie, known as “Jeanne,” to most, passed away at home Saturday, June 4th. Born on a homestead farm in Paspébiac, Quebec, Canada on March 29th, 1937, to Alice ( Joseph) and Sam Prevost. Raised mostly in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Jeanne attended business school in Toronto. She met the love of her life, Peter, while he was attending Niagara University. They married in 1960; shortly after moving to Connecticut and settling in Bethel where they raised their 3 girls. As a parishioner at St. Mary’s, Jeanne was a regular volunteer at the school, and instrumental in starting the library there. An active member of Junior Service League, she worked at Danbury Courthouse for many years in the public defender’s office. Predeceased by her husband Peter in 2008, her mom, dad and brothers, Frankie, and Joe, in laws Joseph and Margaret (Walsh) Clarke, Sr. Joan Marie Clarke, O.S.U., Sister-inlaw Sr. Mary Corita Clarke R.D.C. and brother-in-law Joe Clarke. She is survived by her devoted daughters Lynne ( John) Katopodis, Cathy (Douglas) Clarke and MaryBeth (Dom) Tiberio; grandchildren Danielle Falls and PJ Katopodis, in laws: Mary Clarke, Vincent ( Jean) Clarke, Bernadette (Carmine) Clarke-Salvo and Gail Prevost. There are treasured memories with numerous beloved nieces and nephews and their growing families from summers and “ClarkeFest” in Dundee, NY at the family cabins on Lake Seneca.
Jeanne will be greatly missed by her family, who take solace that she is rejoined with Peter. The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides of Bethel Health Care and RVNA health hospice for the dedication, care, and dignity they showed Jeanne in her last days, especially Tammi and Cindy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 10th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary, Bethel. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
