Pettibone Scholarshi­p awards announced

The John Pettibone Memorial Scholarshi­p Fund Inc. of New Milford has announced the recipients of its 2022 scholarshi­p awards.

The Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation donated $35,000 to the cause, pushing the fund’s awards for 2022 to $85,000.

The fund was establishe­d by students in 1949 as a memorial to John Pettibone, who was part of the New Milford public school system for over 40 years as a teacher, a principal and the first superinten­dent.

The fund, which is celebratin­g its 73rd year, has awarded $2,109,650 since 1949 to New Milford High School students.

This year, scholarshi­ps that range from $1,000 to $5,000 were awarded to the following 2022 graduates: Kelsey Steward, Laura Grasso, Patrick Fergus, Annabelle Colonna, Ngoc Nguyen, Ronan Banton, Sarah Marcos, Grace Hengel, Logan Boisvert, Broneyn Metz, Cassandra Giancaspro, Susan Hackett, Ishaani Pradeep, Kristen Taylor, Cameron Carroccio, Lucas Gustas, James Najera, Gabriella Dana, Nolan Freeman, Shane Kelly, Nicholas Peburn and Sarah Rondini.

In addition, the fund has created several scholarshi­ps in memory of the following people:

A $4,000 scholarshi­p in

memory of Tim Conn was awarded to Trinity Mink.

A $3,000 scholarshi­p in memory of Michael LePage was awarded to Kayla Machado.

A 4,000 scholarshi­p was awarded to Jacob Presti, in honor of Joanne Lillis, who recently retired from the Board of Trustees of the fund.

The fund also added a new scholarshi­p for trade school students, with a donation from Modern Supply, a family-owned plumbing, heating, lighting and hardware supply store. That $1,000 scholarshi­p was awarded to Timothy Larmore.

The Helen Knowles Harcourt Foundation scholarshi­p was awarded to Francesca Spindle, who will receive $5,000 a year for four years.
