M. Robert Osborne 91 of New Milford, Connecticu­t died peacefully at home with family by his side on February 9th, 2023. He was the son of the late Milton Robert Osborne Sr. and Dorothy Wilson Osborne. Mr. Osborne attended Jesse Lee Academy in Ridgefield CT and Lycoming College in Pennsylvan­ia. He served in the Army after college and was stationed in Panama. He lived a very full life.

He was the owner of Park Cadillac Oldsmobile Pontiac GMC until he closed it in 2008. Known as Rob, he had a zest for life and included his many lifelong friends over the years in his adventures. His biggest passions were boating, snowmobili­ng, diving and flying. He owned two airplanes, first a seaplane that he kept on Candlewood Lake and later a Cessna. His boating started early in life as he grew up in Ferris Estates on Candlewood Lake. He was a member of the Candlewood Water Ski Club. His boating later transition­ed to salt water on boats he kept in Montauk, NY, Fort Lauderdale, FL. and later in Old Saybrook, CT. His last boat, a 53’ Egg Harbor named “Park Place” he used to take friends to the Bahamas, Florida Keys, Montauk, Block Island and Newport RI. Robert enjoyed times with friends snowmobili­ng to New York, Maine and his last trip to Yellowston­e National Park. He also enjoyed many diving trips to islands.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Reynolds Osborne, daughter Robyn Osborne Hughes and grandson Kevin C. Hughes, sister Alice Osborne Tyrol, a niece and four nephews. He was predecease­d by his son Kevin Robert Osborne.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 19, from 1-3pm at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
