STAMFORD — Yonkers police arrested three people wanted for car theft and burglaries in Connecticut and New York after the agency pursued them across state lines into Stamford early Wednesday, the agency said.

Yonkers police said the three suspects, two men in their late teens and a 17-year-old boy, are all facing felony charges in Connecticut and New York. Police did not identify any of the three by name, but said all were Connecticut residents.

The 17-year-old was arraigned in youth court in New York on Wednesday night on charges of thirddegree burglary and second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, Yonkers police said. The Westchester District attorney’s office is prosecuting the New York charges.

Yonkers police said the crime spree unfolded earlier this week after the three suspects allegedly stole a Dodge Durango in New Milford on Monday. During the early morning hours Wednesday, police said, the group burglarized a liquor store in Stamford and then crossed the state line into Yonkers.

In Yonkers, the group broke into a Chrysler dealership on Central Avenue, “where they allegedly stole assorted key (fobs) and several hundred dollars in cash,” Yonkers police said.

The break-in triggered a burglar alarm, which sent Yonkers police to the dealership around 4:20 a.m., the department said.

When police arrived, they spotted the white Dodge Durango with two masked suspects inside.

Police said the car drove away, jumping a curb and heading south before pulling a U-turn to pickup the third individual, who came running out of the dealership.

The car then fled through Yonkers and the Bronx before it ended up on Interstate 95 headed into Stamford.

In the city, police said the three suspects “bailed” out of the SUV at Houston Terrace and ran off on foot.

Stamford police said members of the patrol division’s midnight shift set up a perimeter.

“Yonkers Police Officers and Stamford Police Officers and K9s from both departments conducted a methodical search and locate(d) the suspects hiding in a vehicle they entered illegally,” Stamford police said in a Facebook post.

Yonkers police said the three individuals were taken into custody without incident. They were identified as two men aged 18 and 19, and a 17-year-old boy. Yonkers police said names of the two men are being withheld until after arrest warrants are applied for and their arrests are processed.
