DANBURY — A city man is facing six felony charges after allegedly molesting a child several years ago, according to police.

Fernando Gustavo Dota-Dota, 30, was arrested on charges of sexual assault, illegal sexual contact and risk of injury to child on Nov. 15, police said.

His arrest came after an investigation into incidents that allegedly occurred between 2018 and 2019, police said.

According to the warrant for the man’s arrest, Danbury police were notified by the state Department of Children and Families last month after a child reported to her school counselor that a man — later identified as Dota-Dota — had touched her inappropriately about three years prior, when she was 8 or 9 years old.

A forensic interview was held with the alleged victim, during which she told investigators the incidents happened on weekday afternoons while her parents were at work, according to the warrant for Dota-Dota’s arrest.

The victim told authorities that the first time Dota-Dota allegedly assaulted her, he was lying down next to her in a living room and he touched her over her clothes, according to the warrant.

The second incident allegedly occurred in a bedroom, where the victim said Dota-Dota asked her to lie down with him, the warrant states. According to the warrant, the victim did so and Dota-Dota allegedly touched her inappropriately over her clothes and did “other things.”

When asked what “other things” meant, police said in the warrant the victim began to cry and said Dota-Dota “made her do something inappropriate, but didn’t want to say it.”

Police said in the warrant the victim agreed to write it down and wrote that Dota-Dota made her “touch his ‘private part’” and forced her to perform a sexual act on him.

“After this incident, Dota told Victim Doe that they didn’t do anything bad, and not to tell anyone,” said the warrant for Dota-Dota’s arrest, which notes that he was about 25 or 26 at the time of the alleged assaults.

Dota-Dota was arraigned

Nov. 16, on first-degree and fourth-degree sexual assault, as well as two counts of illegal sexual contact and two counts of risk of injury to child at state Superior Court in Danbury, where he has been assigned a public defender.

First-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact, risk of injury to child and fourth-degree sexual assault are class A, B, C and D felonies, respectively.

Dota-Dota was held at the Bridgeport Correctional Center on a $350,000 set bond with a next court date of Dec. 14, according to court records.
