Nome-Beltz has first assembly of the year
Nome-Beltz Middle High School had the first assembly of the year on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
Due to COVID-19, there hasn’t been an assembly recognizing any academic achievements, clubs or sports in a while.
The first assembly recognized Honor Roll students, Band attendees advancing to the State competition, Steffen Booth’s Iron Dog award, Science Fair winners, and the National Honor Society’s hard work.
Not only did faculty members recognize outstanding students, the Spirit Club also organized games for students to do. This amped up the crowd even more. The first game needed ten students from each grade to hold hands and get a hoop through the line. Seniors and freshmen ended up dueling against each other for first place, with Seniors prevailing in the end. There was lots of cheering involved. The next game was a bit more challenging. Four people from each grade participated, and all had to be blindfolded and find each other’s grade in the gym. If each group found each other, they won. You may ask how they had to find each other blindfolded, and the answer is making animal noises specific to their grade. Some examples were dog noises and seal noises. You can imagine it got hectic. The juniors ended up winning that game.
At the end of the assembly, Principal Jay Thomas, gave a list of important dates. Here is what will be happening during the end of this busy year: May 6 prom and Music State; May 22, 4 p.m. Baccalaureate; May 23, 7 p.m. Scholarship Night, May 25, Graduation.
Congratulations to all of the student body for working hard this year and making it to where we have assemblies to recognize it. Also, a huge thank you to the faculty and Spirit Club for putting it on.
Let’s finish out the year strong!
