The Norwalk Hour

Rinks at Veterans Park aren’t returning for 2018/ 19 winter

-

“Under a 10-year contract they are required to return unless there is a clause that allows them out of the contract prior to 10 years. Contract should be reviewed very closely prior to the Oct. 1 date. With what the article said and no other details looks like breach of contract.”

“Not that simple — there are a lot of things the public is not aware of pertaining to the sale and ownership. At the end of the day be happy, these rinks were not efficient or quality. Other options should be explored; these were not optimal. Hopefully another rink(s) is put up in the area

whether it is Norwalk or Wilton or another close option, because hourly rates are ridiculous and ice is in high demand.”

“I’m not sad about this. The warming area was not warm, and my son who plays hockey for a team I won’t mention said the ice was horrible.

I hated when he had practice there. I dreaded going. The locker rooms were the only area slightly warm, but I could not watch his practice from there. The first year we saw passes for Norwalk students, the second year we did not.”

“Electrical wires lying everywhere, including in still water, a rink that didn’t use a chiller (think about that one), ice that needed to be mopped by parents (rink officials didn’t care) to get all the water off the ice before games. This was a 100 percent disaster and failure.

Or trailers (locker rooms) with holes in them. Exposed concrete on the actual sheet of ice. Boards that protruded out and dangerous. Porta-potty as a bathroom option. I’d like to know how these guys actually passed inspection.”
