Around the FBS: West Haven’s Sebastian delivers for Boston College

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brandon Sebastian, Boston College: The junior defensive back from West Haven had six pass breakups as the Eagles held off Pittsburgh for 31-30 overtime victory to improve to 3-1. Sebastian had nine solo tackles, and is tied for the FBS lead with eight pass breakups and had an intercepti­on in a loss to nationally-ranked North Carolina.

CATCHING ON

Boston College receiver C.J. Lewis, a junior from Hamden, had a season-high 58 receiving yards in the win over Pittsburgh. Lewis has six catches for 103 yards in the last two games after managing seven receptions and 50 yards in his last 14 games.

Manchester’s Jevin Frett had a catch in all five games this season for Louisiana-Monroe. Frett has 11 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown this season.

WELCOME TO THE SEC

After four years playing for Northeast Conference powerhouse Central Connecticu­t, it didn’t take former Barlow star Connor Mignone long to earn a starting spot at Vanderbilt.

Mignone made his Southeaste­rn Conference debut, starting at right offensive tackle in a loss to nationally-ranked Texas A&M on Sept. 26. He also got the start at right tackle against defending national champion LSU on Oct. 3 and in the Oct. 10 game against South Carolina.

SEEING TIME FOR NO. 1 TIGERS

Quarterbac­k snaps at Clemson can be hard to come by with potential No. 1 overall NFL draft pick

Trevor Lawrence and highly-touted freshman D.J. Uiagalelei on hand, but Bridgeport’s Taisun Phommachan­h has appeared in three of the four games for No. 1 Clemson. He ran twice for three yards and threw an incomplete pass in the Tigers’ 42-17 win over Miami on Saturday. He is 3 of 10 passing for 8 yards and an intercepti­on and has run five times for 23 yards.

TV TIME

Hartford’s Tahj Herring-Wilson, a former UConn defensive back, is playing for Arkansas State, which will meet Georgia State on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Windsor’s Jason Pinnock, a senior defensive back, leads Pittsburgh on the road to face Miami on Saturday at noon on the ACC Network.
