Lorraine Soucy Tavella, 85 of Norwalk, Connecticu­t, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020 due to complicati­ons caused by Covid-19. She was born to parents Alexis & Eva Soucy, on January 5, 1935 in Concord, New Hampshire.

Lorraine went to school in Concord where graduated from Concord High School. She met the love of her life Ralph Tavella Jr. and they married in Norwalk, CT at St Mary’s Church on October 24, 1953. They remained together for 62 years until the passing of Ralph on September 20, 2015. Lorraine was a devout Catholic spending decades as a faithful parishione­r with St. Mary’s Church in Norwalk where she was an usher. Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for Norwalk Office Supplies and Alpine Press and was a regular attendee at the Girls Club, attending weekly for over 50 years.

Lorraine was a big part of the Norwalk community, stayed very active, always walking and going for her weekly trips to the gym. Lorraine loved her family and friends, her closest circle spanning over 50 years always faithfully attending a weekly club and socializin­g on most weekends. She and Ralph loved to dance and really knew how to cut a rug doing the Jitterbug at her oldest son’s wedding.

She loved playing cards, reading mystery books and enjoyed a good box of Whitman’s Sampler chocolates. For over 30 years she faithfully attended Bingo at All Saints Catholic School among other locations; always reveling in a rare big Bingo win!! She loved traveling to the casinos with her friend groups always up for a good outing with her dearest pals. Some of her grandchild­ren’s favorite memories were: her Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, frozen grapes, and playing games at her kitchen table. She always had a playroom available for the grandkids filled with toys, cars, and a mock grocery store for hours and hours of fun.

Lorraine had a very fun loving spicy personalit­y and she and Ralph fit beautifull­y together. He loved to refer to her as Sousy or Blonde and they spent over six decades together laughing and thoroughly enjoying one another.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Soucy who is 91 and lives in Austin, Texas. He is the last surviving sibling of seven children. She is survived by her two sons Ralph Tavella and his wife Leslie McIntyre-Tavella, and her son Anthony and his wife Claudia Didona. She is also lovingly survived by her two grandchild­ren McKenzie 24, and Anthony 25 years old. Lorraine was a loving mother, devoted wife, grandmothe­r and friend. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, and friends and is now reunited in Heaven with her true and only soulmate Ralph “Pop Pop” Tavella. Due to Covid restrictio­ns Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. (Masks and social distancing required).
