Louise Esposito

Louise Esposito, Norwalk’s former First Lady, was born in Westport, CT and graduated from Staples High School in 1949 and Merrill’s Business College. She was affiliated with several community organizations; former member of the Norwalk Women’s Club, New Horizons Club at St. Matthew Church and St. Ann’s Club. She was also a member of the Norwalk Concert Hall Committee and served on the committee for construction of the Mary McCarthy Room. Louise was part of the mentor program of the Board of Education for over nine years, mentoring two students from our public schools. In 1996, Mrs. Esposito was named the Italian American Woman of the Year, which was comprised of all Italian-American Clubs of the community. Louise was also ordained a Justice of the Peace.

Her dearest endeavor was her role as Chairwoman of the Mayor’s annual Community Ball, which she and Frank initiated to raise money for the Good Shepherd House of Hospitality, Women’s Crisis Center, STAR Rubino Center, Catholic Family Services, Early Learning Center, Kids in Crisis, Norwalk Mentoring Scholarship Fund, Norwalk Police Dept., Norwalk Fire Dept, Human Services Council of Mid-Fairfield, the Norwalk Emergency Center and many more throughout the years.

Mrs. Esposito comes from an active community minded family, involved in Fairfield Country politics for many years. Her father, Louis J. Stroffolino, was a three term Connecticut State Representative, until he passed away and Governor Meskill appointed her mother, Theresa Stoffolino, to serve out his remaining term in 1972.

Louise has been a long term member of the Republican Town Committee for over 50 years. She has been a delegate to numerous city and state conventions and was past president of the Norwalk Republican Woman’s Association.

Louise had been married to former Mayor Frank J. Esposito for 65 years As First Lady of Norwalk, she accompanied him to many functions and assisted in mayoral duties. They are proud parents of two children Frank and Peggy, and their spouses, Ana Esposito and Charles Belline. Three grandchildren; Frank Esposito IV and his wife Jacqueline, Jason Morales, and Marisa Vivaldi, and five great-grandchildren; Frankie, Luca, Lorenzo, Armani and Julien.

Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew Church, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Due to Covid restrictions, attendance is by invite only. Masks & social distancing required.
