Richard “Dick” Masse
Richard “Dick” Masse born July 14, 1940, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born to Ernest J. and Elizabeth Masse of Millbury, Massachusetts, he spent the entirety of his childhood in Worcester (or as he would pronounce it: “Wuss-Tuh”). He was predeceased by his brother, Gerard Masse and his brothersin-law, Richard S. DeLallo and Bruce Tourigny. He is survived by the love of his life, Sandra (DeLallo) Masse, his son Victor and Milette Esposito of Roswell, GA and his grandchildren Charlie, Elliot and Meg and his adopted grandchildren Cory and Meredith McDonald of Norwalk, CT. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Anna Masse of Cranston, RI, Elaine Tourigny, Joseph and Anne DeLallo, Diane DeLallo and Marianne and Brian McDonald of Norwalk and many nieces and nephews.
After his childhood, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 10 years. Following his departure from the Navy, he worked at Nash Engineering in Norwalk for 35 years. Once he was retired, he decided to pursue his passion of golf and worked at Oak Hill’s Golf Course in Norwalk until 2017. He was a person who loved and harbored such generosity and kindness, he will be greatly missed. Some of his most important loves included family, golf, his daily walks on the beach, vacationing in Edisto South Carolina, or any other traveling with friends and family, the Boston Red Sox, and anything else that could make others happy. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and had fond memories of going to Cooperstown.
Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of his life will be made at a later date when we can all get together safely. A graveside service with military honors will take place at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT, on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 11: 45 am. All friends are invited to attend in a safe way in accordance with covid guidelines.
In lieu of any flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his memory would be greatly appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Daniel Boxer and nurse Katie of Norwalk Hospital for the loving care from all the nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital, NP11.
