A 28-year-old city man punched a person multiple times and dragged them into the middle of the roadway for walking in his yard, police said.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls made from Villaway Road at 7:24 p.m. Sunday claiming there was a disturbance in the middle of the street.

Witnesses told police a resident on the street, 28-year-old Mykel Mincey, had reportedly attacked a person who had allegedly been walking through his yard.

The victim, who police say is known to Mincey, suffered a bump on his and an abrasion on his cheek during the alleged attack, police said.

Neighbors told police that, after attacking the victim, Mincey dragged him out to the street. Once out there, Mincey allegedly yelled at onlookers that “if anybody called the police, he would come back with a gun and kill them,” Sgt. Sofia Gulino said.

Mincey was reportedly uncooperative with the officers who first arrived on the scene. Gulino said he would not identify himself nor answer any questions, and eventually he tried to walk away from the scene.

After a preliminary investigation, police said they found Mincey and placed him under arrest.

Mincey was charged with third-degree assault, interfering with an officer and breach of peace. He was held on $25,000 bond and given a court date of Jan. 25.
