Virginia “Ginny” Lovas

Virginia “Ginny” Lovas, age 83 of Norwalk, wife of the late Joseph Lovas for 55 years, died on May 9, 2022. Ginny was born in Philadelph­ia, PA, May 24, 1938 to the late Rev. Dr. Albert M. Holloway and Bertha K. Holloway. She was preceded in death by her brother, David K. Holloway.

Ginny enjoyed over 50 years of nursing, mostly as a pediatric nurse. She taught in the school of nursing at Stamford Hospital. A graduate of Philadelph­ia General Hospital in 1959, she continued on to earn a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Bridgeport and an M.A. in Education from Fairfield University.

Ginny was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in Norwalk, CT serving in many leadership positions. Her favorite job was teaching youngsters safe swimming and boating.

Ginny was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where her father later served as an associate rector. She was a member of the altar guild, sang in the church choir and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and confirmati­on classes.

Ginny is survived by two brothers-in-law Edward and Paul Lovas, nephews Eric and Chris, nieces, Elizabeth and Tricia, as well as six great-nieces and nephews, many godchildre­n and cousins. Family was always very special to her.

A service to celebrate her life will take place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at a later date with the interment of ashes in St. Luke’s columbariu­m with reception to follow. In memory of Ginny, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Darien, CT or to a charity of one’s choice.
