Danbury man charged with trespassing

- By Peter Yankowski

WILTON — A Danbury man was charged last week after police said he entered a the town’s teen center on Station Road while a alternative school program was in session.

Chartlon White, 26, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, simple trespass, and trespassing on railroad property, Wilton police said in a statement Monday. He was also charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer after police said he provided a fake name and attempted to run from officers.

Around 12:38 p.m. on Thursday, the Genesis Alternative Program, a Wilton Public Schools program housed at the towns teen center, reported to police that a man had entered through the front door and had been asked by staff to leave, Wilton police said.

“The male walked around the inside of the building before leaving the facility but remained on the property outside by walking to the rear of the property,” the statement from police said.

When police arrived, they found White near the Danbury and Station roads intersection. Police said when they asked White for his name, he gave them a fake identity and date of birth, which didn’t come up in a database.

Police said when confronted over the false identity, White ran from the officers.

“The suspect was located near the railroad tracks located behind the Village Market and was taken into custody without further incident,” police said.

After he was identified, police determined White had three warrants out for his arrest from Danbury police.

Wilton police said his bond for the incident was set at $5,000, while he has an additional $15,000 in bond set by Danbury police.

He was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 20.

Court records indicate White has an ongoing case in Bridgeport court stemming from a 2016 arrest by Danbury police for misdemeanor breach of peace, to which he pleaded guilty. He also has a case pending for a 2019 arrest by Danbury police for violation of probation and failure to appear in court. He pleaded guilty to both charges, court records show.

It was not immediately clear if White has entered a plea to the charges out of Wilton.
