Fake on-call driver pleads guilty to assaults

STAMFORD — A former city man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two local women in separate incidents after picking them up in downtown Stamford when they called for a driver.

Henry Revolorio-DePaz, 30, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to two counts each of second-degree sexual assault and firstdegree unlawful restraint as part of a disposition agreement with state prosecutors.

Under the agreement, Revolorio-DePaz

will receive a 12-year jail sentence, suspended after seven years, and will then serve 15 years of probation for his guilty plea. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Revolorio-DePaz was arrested in Kansas in 2019 where he was staying with a relative on two counts each of second-degree sexual assault and kidnapping for two separate incidents where he picked up women from Stamford bars who had been waiting for an on-call driver, and then sexually assaulted them.

In the first case, a Darien woman told police that she was drinking with friends at a bar in downtown Stamford on July 8, 2016, when she called an on-call ride share company for transportation. After waiting for a while, she walked over to a Chevy Suburban, thinking that was her ride, police said.

The woman told police she did not recall looking at the driver or saying anything to him before she got in the vehicle and they drove off.

Soon after they started, the car was stopped and a man got into the back seat and sexually assaulted her, the woman told police. The woman said she was unsure whether it was the driver or another man. She said she was then dropped off at her home, police said.

Police later questioned Revolorio-DePaz based on the description of his vehicle. RevolorioDePaz said he had sex with the woman but that it was consensual.

Two years later, a second, similar incident happened to a then-19-year-old Greenwich woman, police said.

On Dec. 16, 2018, a man later identified as Revolorio-DePaz picked up the then-teenager as she waited for her ride after leaving a bar in downtown Stamford, police said.

The arrest affidavit says the driver took her to a location in Cos Cob, but before she could get out of the vehicle, the driver ripped her pantyhose and sexually assaulted her.

Police were able to link Revolorio-DePaz to the assault using DNA evidence.

Revolorio-DePaz is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 24.
