New Canaan captures state title
Molly Mitchell shot a 3-over-par 75 at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull to win the CIAC Girls Division I state championship meet on Monday afternoon.
That round also helped New Canaan win the team championship by 28 strokes over Greenwich.
Just four days earlier, New Canaan had won its fifth straight FCIAC championship by nine over Greenwich.
New Canaan had won the CIAC girls championship from 2017 to 2019 when it was just one division.
The Rams finished second to hall in Division I last season.
New- Canaan finished with a 324 total, followed by Greenwich (352), Trumbull (364), Amity (365) and Staples (367).
Aoife Devaney and Laniah Moffett, both from Kennedy, shot 76 and 77, respectively, to place second and third behind Mitchell.
Ava Gross, the SCC champion, placed fourth with a 78, followed by a tie for fifth between Amanda Vigano, the FCIAC medalist from New Canaan, and
Morgan Peterson of Glastonbury at 79.
