- By Kendra Baker

NEW FAIRFIELD — A seasoned Fairfield County educator has been selected to serve as New Fairfield’s next superintendent of schools.

Kenneth Craw — current assistant superintendent of the Weston Public Schools — was appointed by the Board of Education to be the district’s next educator-inchief during a special meeting Monday.

He will succeed Pat Cosentino, who is retiring in June from the position she has held since 2018 and will go on to serve as interim part-time superintendent in the neighboring town of Sherman.

Craw said he’s “extremely honored” to be the New Fairfield school district’s next superintendent.

Craw comes to New Fairfield with nearly 30 years of experience as an educator in Fairfield County.

His career in education started in 1992 at Fairfield’s Tomlinson Middle School, where he served as a science teacher for two years.

He then became a science teacher at Darien’s Middlesex Middle School, where he also served as a K-5 science specialist.

After eight years, Craw went on to work as house principal at Trumbull High School for two years, followed by four years as staff and students administrator at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, then four years as principal of Weston High School.

Following 10 years as its assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, Craw says he is leaving the Weston Public School District with “many fond memories.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing students in action from grades PreK to 12, developing as young people as they progress through the system that nurtures their abilities,” Craw said in a Tuesday email to the Weston community.

“I have been amazed by their many talents on display, inside and outside of the classroom, on the playing fields, on the stage, in their artistic endeavors and during academic competitions,” he said, adding that working in Weston’s school district has been a privilege.

Craw will start his new position as New Fairfield’s superintendent of schools July 1.
