Impressed by mission, success of Future 5

- Thomas L. Rich is president of the F.D. Rich Co.

To the editor,

I am writing this after having just returned from a meeting and facility tour of the Stamford organization named Future 5. I’ve known about this Stamford-based nonprofit through friends and family who are directly involved with it and have been a supporter for many years but, this was my first site visit. To see it in action buzzing with eager high school students, graduates now in college, as well as a raft of well-qualified volunteer advisors and fulltime staff, was beyond impressive.

Their higher education admission success rate, which hovers around a whopping 90 percent, is beyond admirable.

Future 5 is a nonprofit organization whose important mission is to help motivated, under-resourced high school students from Stamford connect to their full potential, leading to independence, productive citizenship and gaining admission to higher education following their high school graduation. Their goal is to encourage stellar performances in high school and to connect students to the people, resources, and experiences essential in making the transition to post-secondary education and careers. Their higher education admission success rate, which hovers around a whopping 90 percent, is beyond admirable.

From the F-5 website: “For over the past 12 years, Future 5 has helped more than 700+ students achieve their academic, career and life goals by connecting them to coaches, college, the community, careers and, most importantly, their own character. It is never too late to help shape the life of a young person, regardless of economic or family circumstances.”

Like most nonprofits, the only way they can improve and grow their critical missions is with donations from people like you and me. I hope after reading this, you’ll look closely into Future 5 and strongly consider going online to futurefive.org and hitting the “donate now” button! Our collective future depends on ensuring the success of worthwhile organizations just like this one!
