Defending champion Schauffele returning
The Travelers Championship announced Tuesday that defending champion Xander Schauffele is returning for the 2023 event.
Schauffele’s victory in last year was his sixth career win on the PGA Tour.
This will be his fifth Travelers Championship appearance and he is currently ranked No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Schauffele birdied the 18th hole during the final round last year at TPC River Highlands, closing with a 68 to win by two strokes. He won three events last year and tied for 18th or better in 10 of his final 11 Tour events.
“It’s always special having our defending champion in the player field because it brings back so many great memories,” Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube said in a statement. “Xander had a spectacular 2022 that included an amazing week at Travelers, and he’s continued to play at a very high level since then. Our fans enjoyed cheering him on to victory and they’ll be ready to welcome him back as a big part of the tournament family.”

The Travelers Championship will be held June 19-25 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. The tournament will have a purse of $20 million.
