Baseball returning to Hartford’s Dunkin’ Park

- By Will Aldam

The Hartford Yard Goats announced Wednesday that college baseball will be returning to Dunkin' Park this spring. It will be the sixth season that the Yard Goats will host local college programs at their downtown Hartford ballpark.

The first game to kick off the “college series” will take place on April between UConn and UMBC, and will serve as a full ballpark reopening after changing names from Dunkin' Donuts Park to just Dunkin' Park earlier this year.

UConn will play three games at Dunkin' Park this spring, while Yale and Central Connecticut State each have two games scheduled. Quinnipiac, Hartford and St. Joseph each have one game scheduled. Out of state school will include Westfield State (MA), and UMBC (MD).

“We are excited to welcome college baseball back to Dunkin' Park,” Yard Goats President Tim Restall said in a press release. “Our fans will once again get the opportunity to come out and see some of the best programs in the area, and enjoy the amenities of our wonderful downtown ballpark.”

The April 1 opener (which takes place before the Yard Goats own home opener on April 6th) will be the first of three games that UConn will play at Dunkin' Park. UConn will also play CCSU on April 10 and will face Yale on April 25.

Yale will make its first of two appearances at

Dunkin' Park on April 12 against Hartford, which is transitioning to Division III. On April 26, University of St. Joseph will play Westfield State.

CCSU will return to Dunkin' Park on April 27 to play Quinnipiac in the final college game hosted by the Yard Goats this year.
