City sets dates for bulky waste collections
The city of Norwalk announced the schedule for its 2023 Bulky Waste Collection Program.
The collection program is available to residents within the 4th Taxing District who receive garbage and recycling services from the city of Norwalk.
The 4th Taxing District has been divided into four zones for designated collection dates.
• In Zone 1, for residents who live north of Route 15 and east of Route 7, between Route 15 and Route 1, the collections will be on Wednesday, March 8, and on July 12.
• In Zone 2, for residents who live southeast of Route 1 and East Norwalk residents, collections are scheduled for April 19 and Aug. 9.
• In Zone 3, for residents who live south of I-95 and west of the Norwalk River, including South Norwalk residents, collections are scheduled for May 17 and Sept.

• In Zone 4, for residents who live west of Route 7 and between Route 15 and I-95, collection dates are scheduled for June 7 and Oct. 18.
To request bulky waste collection, residents can contact the City’s Customer Service at 203-854-3200, visit https:// www.norwalkct.org/1526/Click-Request or customerservice@norwalkct.org before their scheduled collection dates.
Requests can be made at any time until 4:30 p.m. on the Monday before a resident’s scheduled collection date.
This is a list of acceptable items for pickup: furniture, such as couches, chairs, bookcases; mattresses, rolled rugs/carpets, but no more than 4 feet wide; metal items; metal appliances, such as washing machines and dryers, but they cannot contain freon; and large plastic items, such as children’s toys and outdoor chairs.
Unaccepted items include household hazardous waste; liquid waste, such as paint; tires; vehicles, motor part or anything with a title of ownership, such as motorcycles or trailers; yard waste; construction and remodeling debris, such as concrete, sheetrock, masonry, toilets, sinks, shingles, pipes, furnaces and fiberglass; single-stream recycling; clothing or textiles; electronics; and appliances with freon, such as air conditioners, refrigerators and dehumidifiers.
Bags and boxes of small items will not be collected.
Collection is not available in commercial locations or at residential buildings with more than four units.
Items must be neat, orderly and placed curbside before 7 a.m. on the scheduledcollection day. Items should not be placed curbside more than 48 hours before the scheduled collection time.
Items should not block sidewalks or streets.
