John Russo January 17, 1944 - March 13, 2023

John ‘Giovanni’ Russo, 79, passed away March 13, 2023, at home in Marlboro, Vermont. John was formerly a resident of Wilton and Norwalk, CT. He was the loving husband of Civita R. Russo and devoted son of the late Adolfo and Anna Maria Russo. He was born in Scauri, Italy January 17, 1944. He immigrated to the United States in 1964 and settled in to work the American dream. He met his wife in 1968 via just a photo and a letter. They began a lifetime of love later that year when they were married on December 1, 1968. John worked as a union laborer and carpenter for many years prior to retiring due to disability in 1991. He was a man of many traits and skills but first and foremost was his love of his family and friends. John proudly had a hand in designing and building both his home in Wilton and his home in Vermont. While he was unable to physically be a part of the builds - he was part of each and every decision. He was enamored with the idea of building something for his family to enjoy for many years to come. John and Civita moved to Vermont in 2016 for a life of peace, ease and contentment.

John was predeceased by his son Adolfo, his sister Assunta and his brother Angelo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Civita. His daughter Natasha (Gered), son Lorenzo (Victoria and Children), his brother Aldo (Maria), many cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima in Wilton, CT. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
