Clinics offered for COVID vaccinations
Norwalk continues to offer weekly community clinics to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations.
The COVID-19 vaccine has been proven safe and effective at preventing hospitalizations and death due to SARS-CoV-2. Everyone age 6 months and older is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices also recommends a new bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine that is formulated to provide an immune response against the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5.
Per the ACIP, the new Moderna booster is authorized for individuals 18 years of age and older, and the new Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster is authorized for individuals 12 years of age and older. Individuals can get this bivalent booster 2 months after their most recent COVID-19 vaccine. Contact your healthcare provider to see if they are offering this new booster or visit www.vaccines.gov/search for vaccine providers in your area.
