Jeffrey Saunders Smith, 70, of Wolfeboro, NH, died Thursday, November 9, 2023.

He was born in Stamford, CT in 1952 to John and Jane Smith. He was older brother to Kimberly Tennyson and Kristopher Smith. He lived in Norwalk and Newington before moving back to Norwalk and graduating from Norwalk High School in 1971. Jeff graduated from Western Connecticu­t State University where he met his lifelong love and wife, Diane. After graduation, Jeff was band director at Ponus Ridge Middle School, Brien McMahon High School, and Norwalk High School. During this time, he helped form Musical Arts Conference and taught at Western Connecticu­t State University. Following his alleged retirement in 2010, Jeff moved to Wolfeboro, NH. He instructed and wrote drill for University of New Hampshire Marching Band (NH) and Westbrook High School Marching Band (ME), directed Strafford Wind Symphony (NH), performed in numerous ensembles, and judged for several marching band circuits.

In his 48 years of teaching, Jeff impacted the lives of thousands. He was more than just a teacher. He was friend, mentor, father figure, colleague, loving father and husband, and so much more.

He will live on forever in his legacy.

Jeff is survived by his wife Diane; son Alan, daughterin-law Amy, and grandchild­ren Matthew and Brooke; son Peter, daughter-in-law Cynthia, and grandchild­ren Bennett and Everett; son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Jaclyn, and grandchild­ren Landen, Brayden, and Dean; daughter Victoria; and niece Hilary Tennyson.
