Quinnipiac announces contract extension for head coach Pecora
Quinnipiac men’s basketball coach Tom Pecora will receive a contract extension through the end of 2027-2028, Director of Athletics Greg Amodio announced Monday morning.
Pecora has led the Bobcats to a 19-6 overall record (11-3 MAAC) during his first season at the helm. Quinnipiac currently ranks No. 1 in the league standings and remains in many bracketologist’s projected NCAA
Tournament brackets.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Tom Pecora will continue to lead our men’s basketball program,” Amodio said in a release. “He is an excellent mentor to our student-athletes and a great ambassador for the University. Quinnipiac Basketball has experienced incredible success already under Tom’s guidance, and we’re excited about the future of the team as we continue to compete for league championships.”
The New York native served as Hofstra’s head coach for nine years (200110), then coached at Fordham for five seasons (201015), before joining the Bobcats’ staff as an associate head coach in 2017. Pecora was named the program’s head coach on April 13, 2023.

Quinnipiac’s current 19-6 record matches the program’s best start to year since the 1965-66 season (the `65-66 Quinnipiac squad started 21-4 overall). The first-place Bobcats won 10 consecutive games from Jan. 5-Feb. 8. Pecora led Quinnipiac to a 7-0 record during January, the first perfect month in the program’s Division I history.
