Norwalk school district joins national education innovation group
NORWALK — The school district’s superintendent will represent the Norwalk Public Schools in a national organization supporting innovation in education.
“Norwalk Public Schools proudly joins the League of Innovative Schools, embracing the opportunity to collaborate with forwardthinking districts nationwide,” Superintendent Alexandra Estrella said in a statement.
The league is part of Digital Promise, “a global nonprofit working to expand opportunity for every learner by bridging solutions across research, practice, and technology,” the statement said.
Jillian Doggett, director of network support at Digital Promise, said bringing together educators is crucial to develop new methods. “As teaching and learning rapidly evolve amidst the advent of new technologies, the league’s mission to connect innovative education leaders is more vital than ever,” Doggett said in a statement.
The Norwalk school district is now among over 120 other districts and schools across the U.S. that collaborate to “access to unique opportunities that allow them to co-create, pilot, and scale innovative practices, apply learnings to their own districts, and identify and promote promising practices to other districts across the country,” according to Digital Promise’s website.
The league meets twice yearly to “accelerate member leadership and empower district transformation,” the site states.
“We aim to equip students for success in an everchanging world, and we look forward to working with The League to bring more opportunities to our schools,” Estrella said in the statement.
Accessing methods for student success is paramount to the League’s goals, Doggett said.
“Through its network of forward-thinking leaders, the League provides school districts with opportunities to leverage research-backed approaches for addressing complex challenges; stay at the forefront of cuttingedge educational practices; and implement innovative solutions that meet the needs of all students,” she said in a statement.
Norwalk Public Schools became a member of the league last week at the organization’s spring convening in New York.
