Katherine A. Svec

Katherine A. Svec of Naples, Florida passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024 in Naples, FL surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Brooklyn, NY but lived most of her young life in Bayville, LI with the Athanas family from the age of 7 when her mother died. Her dearest cousin Andrew Athanas has remained a “brother” her entire life.

She worked for Newsday in Garden City, LI for 4 years before moving to NYC where she worked for General Motors Corporation for a number of years. She married in 1958 and stayed home to raise her daughters in Brooklyn, NY; Plainview, Long Island, and NJ briefly before settling in Fairfield, CT in 1972. She then worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for 17 years, followed by a part time position at Northwestern Mutual Financial Insurance.

After remarrying in 1981, she and her husband Edward J. Svec lived for almost 35 years in their lovely home on the river in West Norwalk.

Katherine leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by her dedicated daughters, Elaine K. Falkenberg Goodrich of Naples, FL and Carol Ann Falkenberg of Hernando, FL; son-in-law

Charles Goodrich of Naples, FL; son-in-law Sean Libbey of Naples, FL and stepson Kimball Svec of Stratford CT.

Her devoted husband Edward J. Svec, dear sister Penny DeGarmo, brothers Arthur T. Anos, Nicolas Cosmo Anos and Peter Anos predeceased her.

She (our little Mommy) is and always will be so loved, cherished, and missed immensely and immeasurably by her daughters.

May she rest in peace knowing her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the hearts of many she touched with her love and kindness.
