Coffin new FPS assistant superintendent
The Farmington Public Schools has hired a new assistant superintendent of innovation and strategic initiatives.
The Board of Education approved the hiring of Kelly Coffin May 5.
This newly created position was established to plan, organize and direct the overall activities and operations of the Instructional Department and assigned programs, under the direction of Superintendent Bob Herrera.
She will formulate and develop educational systems, policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with a variety of district, county, federal, and local laws policies, rules and regulations. Among her other duties, she will also lead strategic initiatives aligned to the district’s strategic plan.
Coffin is the current assistant superintendent for professional learning and innovation for the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. Prior to that, Coffin Served as superintendent, from 2013-2019, for Tecumseh Public Schools.
She has served in numerous roles throughout her career, including teacher, principal, interim superintendent, and director of instructional services.
She earned her Bachelors of Science in Education — Teachers of the Emotionally Impaired; Mathematics from Central Michigan University. She earned her Master of Arts in Reading, her Specialist in Arts in Educational Leadership, and her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
