County, Genisys Credit Union award ‘Spirit of Main Street’ grants
Main Street Oakland County and Genisys Credit Union recently awarded six “Spirit of Main Street” Micro BusinessGrants, totaling $17,000, according to a press release. The recipients of the awards include: TheMarketplace in Berkley, Maruca’s Kitchen in Holly, 20 Front Street in Lake Orion, Cookies andCreaminLakeOrion, the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority and Everybody Inc. in Pontiac. The grant program is a partnership betweenMain Street Oakland County and Genisys. To qualify for a “Spirit of Main Street” grant, applicants must provide a minimumdollar-for-dollarmatch.
“We are grateful that Genisys Credit Union continues to support our small businesses and Main Street Oakland County through its sponsorship of the ‘Spirit of Main Street’ grants,” Oakland County Executive David
Coulter said.
The Marketplace and Maruca’s Kitchen are using their awards for building renovations and equipment; 20FrontStreet isusing the funds for streaming and broadcast equipment for live music; Cookies and Creamis using its grant to acquire a nearby ice cream plant to expand its business model; the Ortonville DDA is using its award to go toward its “Welcome Back to Ortonville” promotion and Everybody Inc., which employs disabled
adults, is using its grant for signage in itsnewlocationinside McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, according to the press release. Previous grants were awarded inMay of this year, toWixom’s Trails End Café inWixom, the Liberty Bar in Pontiac andHoncho/Union Joints Restaurant in Clarkston.
