Man shot at hotel
One man was shot in the leg after a large gathering at a hotel in Troy on Feb. 28.
Troy police officers responded to a report of gunfire at the Hawthorn Suites, 2600 Livernois, at about 3:45 a.m.
Officers entered a large gathering in a rented room but its occupants refused to cooperate, according to a release from the Troy Police Department.
As officers continued their investigation, Troy dispatchers informed them of a gunshot victim in a vehicle traveling south on I-75 near Rochester Road.
Troy and Madison Heights police officers unsuccessfully attempted to stop the vehicle and at least one other car as they traveled south.
Royal Oak police were able to stop the vehicles at Southfield Road and I-696 in Southfield.
Police confirmed that one man had been shot in the calf. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Officers interviewed several people with the group who refused to cooperate.
Police believe that several unwanted guests arrived at a party in the hotel room at about 3 a.m. When those guests were asked to leave, an argument likely ensued and shots were fired, according to the release. Police located several pistol shell casings in the hotel room.
Officers searched the room and several vehicles involved with the incident but did not find a handgun.
In addition to the Madison Heights and Royal Oak police departments, Troy officers received assistance from Clawson and Birmingham.
