Oakland County girls basketball rankings: WB, Marian at the top

- By Scott M. Burnstein

There hasn’t been much change atop the Oakland County girls basketball rankings after four weeks of the season. Here’s a look at the latest top 10 entering the final leg of the regular season.

1. West Bloomfield (8-1) – Myonna Hooper is ready to roll, watch for her return to give the already-stacked Lakers a lift.

2. Birmingham Marian (7-3) – The great Dave Feldman is smiling down on this Mustangs team from his big AD office in the sky. These young ladies are on their way to reclaiming bragging rights in the Catholic League.

3. Farmington Hills Mercy (73) – Can Alexis Roberts get a little more love from the college recruiters, please? This young lady is primetime all the way.

4. Clarkston (9-2) – Very balanced, very hard-nosed, very dangerous.

5. South Lyon East (8-3)– Head coach Rob Leadley scheduled a gauntlet for his up-and-coming Cougars troop and it will pay off in the postseason.

6. Stoney Creek (9-1) – Mia Carson is nails-tough out of the backcourt.

7. Birmingham Groves (7-5) – Strap in folks, this is going to be a fun ride these next few years with Coach Simpkins running the ship.

8. Troy (7-4) – It’s bombs away for the Colts, as Laura Gumma is showing off her skill from 3-point land lately. Listen for it ...... swissssssh.

9. Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes (8-2) – Locked and loaded at Robak Central per usual. Quinn Robak could be the best shooter of them all.

10. Royal Oak (6-4) – Lexi Romesburg is a baller and shot caller, plain and simple, wouldn’t you agree?
