Western edges Kettering on Senior Night

A recap of high school sporting events reported to The Oakland Press on Monday night:

Walled Lake Western picked up a win on Senior Night, besting Waterford Kettering 53-50.

Dylan Smith led the Warriors with 14 points, while Wil Ludwig scored 10.

Bennie Crenshaw had 21 points to lead the Warriors, while Zarek Zelinski had 11.

The Clarkston boys basketball team rallied from down six at halftime to best Troy, 46-44.

Mike DePillo led the Wolves in the win with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Nathan Steinman added 10 points and four rebounds.

The South Lyon boys basketball team improved to 8-2 on the season Monday night with a 67-51 win over Walled Lake Northern.

Quinn Fracassi led the Lions in the victory with 22 points, while Logan Doty had 19.

Johnny Archer had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Knights.

The South Lyon East boys basketball team earned a 5944 win over Milford on Monday to improve to 9-1 on the season.

Drake Willenborg, Bryce Bird, Zander Desentz and Adam Trent each scored in double figures for the Cougars.

Lake Orion won its seventh straight game on Monday, besting Ferndale University

63-36.

Andrew Bryant led the Dragons in the win with 10 points, while Brennan Jones and Blake Liddell each scored eight.

Royal Oak Shrine won its non-conference rivalry game with Royal Oak on Monday, 52-46.

Stephen Ruhle led the Knights with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Plunkey added nine points.

Royal Oak was led by Colton Champion, who had 11 points. Dylan Hoffmann added 10 points.

The Madison Heights Madison boys basketball team ran past Hazel Park on Monday, 70-40.

Malik Davis had 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead the Eagles in the win. Quentin Jones added 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Southfield Christian boys basketball team improved to 10-1 on the season with a 61-45 win over Dearborn Divine Child.

Mikey Lividini had 27 points to lead the Eagles in the win, while Verian Patrick had 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.

Detroit Catholic Central was unable to get past Detroit U-D Jesuit on Monday, suffering a 71-53 loss.

Chas Lawless had 15 points to lead the Shamrocks, while Cooper Craggs added 13 points.

The Rochester Adams boys basketball team fell to Detroit King, 68-43 in a nonconfere­nce clash on Monday.

Andrew Brown and Justice Mims each had 12 points to lead the Highlander­s in the victory.

KETTERING 35, WL WESTERN 29

The Waterford Kettering girls basketball team grabbed a LVC win over Walled Lake Western on Monday, 35-29.

Markayla Holland led the Captains with 20 points, while Eliyana Ball had six.

The Walled Lake Northern girls basketball team improved to 7-3 on the season Monday night with a 42-21 win over South Lyon.

Kelly Hickey had 15 points to lead the Knights in the win, while Andie Wolfe had 14 points and six rebounds.

The Royal Oak Shrine girls basketball team bested Troy Athens on Monday night, 44-34.

Nitya Balusu had 10 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Red Hawks, while Gillian Ciak had nine points.

The Birmingham Marian girls basketball team improved to 8-3 on the season Monday night with a 51-24 victory over Divine Child.

Shannon Kennedy had 14 points to lead the Mustangs in the win, while Anna Herberholt­z had 13.

West Bloomfield lost an offensive showcase with Harper Woods Chandler Park on Monday, 79-78.

Indya Davis had 24 points to lead the Lakers, while Sydney Hendrix scored 17 points and had 17 rebounds. Summer Davis added 13 points and seven steals.
