South Lyon standout headed to CMU

SOUTH LYON » The truth of the matter is Taylor Anderson is the truth on the basketball court.

You just might not know it, because this is her first year playing hoops in Oakland County.

You’ll know it soon enough. This young lady won’t be denied on the hardwood.

Two years from now, she’ll be balling up a storm in Mt. Pleasant.

Anderson, a gutty, high-motor wing guard, committed to Central Michigan last week.

She’s one of the best defensive players in the state and is averaging 12 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists per game.

“It’s a lot off my shoulders to get my college decision out of the way and now I can just focus on being a leader,” Anderson said.

“I want to make my reputation for hustling, being a twoway player, getting on the floor for loose balls and stuff like that. The little things always make a big difference in this game.”

The past two seasons, Anderson played in the Detroit PSL at Detroit Renaissance.

She was second-team All-PSL last winter as a sophomore.

With Anderson in the lineup, South Lyon East (10-4, 7-0) is in first place in the LVC.

The teams hopes to crack state rankings prior to the start of the district tournament.

Anderson selected CMU over Western Michigan and Oakland University.

“Bringing Taylor into the program has taken us to a different level,” East head coach Rob Leadley said. She’s such a complete player. She covers a lot of court and just gets the job done no matter what you ask of her coaching wise.”

Anderson’s defensive prowess is off the charts.

“Taylor is a wiz on defense, her anticipation, her feel for the game, her basketball IQ, really makes her stand out from the rest of the pack,” Leadley said.
