Lake Orion girls secure OAA Blue championsh­ip with win over Berkley

Girls basketball LAKE ORION 47, BERKLEY 26

The Lake Orion girls basketball team locked up an OAA Blue title on Thursday with a 47-26 win over Berkley.

Audrey Wischmeyer had 15 points to lead the Dragons (8-2 OAA Blue), including five 3-pointers. Katlyn Van Heck added 11 points.

Berkley was led by Ashley Loon, who had 15 points.

OXFORD 26, ROCHESTER 23

Oxford won a hardfought battle with Rochester on Thursday night, 2623.

Mackenzie Methner had 15 points to lead the Wildcats, including the gamewinnin­g free throws in the closing seconds.

Natalie Rayce led Rochester with nine points.

CLARKSTON 52, GROVES 49

The Clarkston girls basketball season closed up its regular season with a 52-49 win over Groves on Thursday.

Keira Tolmie had 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Wolves in the win, while Izzy Hadley and Morgan Hunter each had 11 points with seven rebounds.

NORTH FARMINGTON 53, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 37

North Farmington grabbed a Senior Night victory on Thursday, besting Bloomfield Hills 53-37.

Sela Lefler led the Raiders (4-9, 3-5 OAA White) with 24 points and six assists. Penelope Creary added 10 points and six steals while Heaven Rogers had eight

points with 12 rebounds.

SEAHOLM 43, OAK PARK 41

The Birmingham Seaholm girls basketball team edged Oak Park on Thursday night, 43-41.

Shay Manchester and Clara Guffey each had eight points to lead the Maples in the win, while Maggie Liebler had seven points with eight rebounds and four blocks.

LAKELAND 57, SOUTH LYON 33

The Lakeland girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 57-33 win over South Lyon on Thursday.

Molly Libby had 13 points to lead the Eagles (9-6) in the win, while Summer Ambler had 12 points and Mati Sardi scored 10.

EVEREST COLLEGIATE 37, SACRED HEART 27

Clarkston Everest Collegiate defeated Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart on Thursday, 37-27.

Celeste James scored 14 points to lead the Mountainee­rs in the win.

Boys basketball MILFORD 52, KETTERING 39

The Milford boys basketball team picked up a Lakes Valley Conference win over Waterford Kettering on Thursday, 52-39.

Zarek Zelinski led the

Captains (7-9) with 14 points while Brandon Wall scored seven.

MADISON 58, MARINE CITY 41

The Madison Heights Madison boys basketball team stormed past Marine City on Thursday, 58-41.

Malik Davis had 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four blocks to lead the Eagles. Quentin Jones added 13 points and six rebounds, while Desmond Denham scored 12 points.

CLAWSON 51, STERLING HEIGHTS 48

Clawson grabbed a 51-48 win over Sterling Heights on Thursday night.

Alex Cordone led the Trojans in the win with 24 points, while Kyle Gougeon scored nine.

Girls hockey BLOOMFIELD­BIRMINGHAM 6, SACRED HEART 0

The Bloomfield-Birmingham United girls hockey team beat Sacred Heart Thursday in the opening round of the playoffs, 6-0.

Goalie Elizabeth Culbertson recorded a shutout in net, while Madison Abbo had the first two goals of the game. Anjalica Singelyn, Reese Hentgen, Jessie Rebock and Caitlin Tabin also found the net for Bloomfield-Birmingham United.
