Stoney Creek overwhelms Rochester in district final

A recap of high school sporting events reported to The Oakland Press on Friday night:

Girls basketball STONEY CREEK 37, ROCHESTER 14

The Stoney Creek girls basketball team picked up a win over local rival, Rochester, on Friday to claim a Division 1 district title.

Milana Skoric had 12 points to lead the Cougars (15-1) in the 37-14 victory, while Sydney Laprairie scored 10.

Rochester was led by Ananya Rangarajan, who had six points. Megan Lorenzo added four points.

Stoney Creek moves on to the D1 regional tournament at Chippewa Valley. The Cougars will face Utica on Monday at 7 p.m.

MERCY 56, NORTH FARMINGTON 32

The Farmington Hills Mercy basketball team topped North Farmington, 56-32, in a Division 1 district final at Novi High School.

Ellie Tisko had 16 points to lead the Marlins (14-3) in the win, while Alexis Roberts scored 14.

Heaven Rogers led North Farmington with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Sela Lefler scored 10.

Mercy advances to the D1 regional at Detroit Renaissanc­e, where it will face Birmingham Groves on Monday at 7 p.m.

GROVES 54, BERKLEY 44

Birmingham Groves collected a Division 1 district championsh­ip on Friday, defeating Berkley 5444.

Ashley Loon led the Bears (11-6) with 18 points, while Ry Sanom had eight points and Ava Beard scored seven.

MARIAN 59, MOTT 10

The Birmingham Marian girls basketball team defeated Waterford Mott 59-10 on Friday in a D1 district final at Mott.

Kelsey Palmer had six points to lead the Corsairs.

Marian will take on Clarkston in a D1 regional semifinal on Monday at Holly High School at 7 p.m.

CLAWSON 44, CRANBROOK 29

The Clawson girls basketball team won its first district championsh­ip since 2004 on Friday with a 4429 win over CranbrookK­ingswood.

Aliyah Vesper had 13 points to lead the Trojans in the win, while Abbey Lodato had eight points, eight steals and six assists.

Clawson will take on Macomb Lutheran North in a Division 2 regional semifinal on Monday at 7 p.m. from Imlay City.

LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 63, NEW HAVEN 22

The Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest girls basketball team won a Division 3 district championsh­ip on Friday thanks to a 63-22 win over New Haven.

Sabrina Gottschalk had 17 points to lead the Raiders, while Emily Grulke had 16. Stella Macavage added 10 points for Lutheran Northwest.

Lutheran Northwest advances to the Division 3 regional semifinal on Monday at Bishop Foley, where the Raiders will face the Ventures at 5:30 p.m.

WATERFORD OUR LADY 56, OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 43

The Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes girls basketball team won a Division 4 district title on their home floor Friday night, besting Auburn Hills Oakland Christian by a score of 56-43.

Brooklyn Robak scored 23 points to lead the Lakers, while Quinn Robak scored 20.

The Lakers advance to the Division 4 regional tournament at Oakland Christian next week. WOLL will take on Marine City Cardinal Mooney on Monday at 7 p.m.
