The following ceremonies are being held on Patriot Day, Saturday, Sept. 11, in Oakland County, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11:
• The Veterans Tribute of Oakland Township is hosting a 20th Anniversary
9/11 event from 2 p.m. to dusk on Saturday, Sept.
11, at 5236 N. Adams
Road, Oakland Township, outdoors, featuring guest speakers, remembrances of the lives lost on 9/11, and live music throughout the day. The event is family friendly and free, donations are welcome. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Visitors can order an honorary brick paver at the event, vtotmi. org.
• The cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills along with Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346, is hosting its 20th Annual Patriot Day Ceremony, 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Walter Sundquist Pavilion at Riley Park, 33113 Grand River Ave., Farmington. Also, local heroes who serve the community every day, will be honored. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs. • The City of Rochester Hills is hosting its September 11 Remembrance Ceremony, 9-11 a.m. Sept. 11 at Rochester Hills Fire Department Headquarters, 1111 Horizon Court, Rochester Hills, rochesterhills. org.
• Remembrance First Responders,9/11 Memorial Service, is 8 a.m. Sept. 11, in front of the Holly Township Hall, Saginaw and Civic Drive, downtown Holly. Holly Days Festival is Sept. 11-12, bit.ly/3ncajn2.
• “Old Glory” exhibition is on display through Sept. 30 at the Northville Art House, 215 W Cady St., Northville, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The exhibit features memorabilia and artwork related to the iconic 30′ x 45′ mural of the U.S. flag that Northville artist Jeff Von Buskirk was commissioned to paint on the wall of the Marquis Theatre in downtown Northville, northvillearthouse.org/ exhibitions/jeffvonbuskirk.
• Rochester Hills Public Library to participate in 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World,” a downloadable educational exhibition that presents the history of 9/11. The library is encouraging community members to share their memories of 9/11 for an interactive digital display. Memories may be shared by completing an online form at bit. ly/3gagFi6. The library’s display runs through the month of September during regular open hours.
