There have been at least nine other pedestrian accidents in Oakland County in recent weeks.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, along Livernois Road while the man was crossing Drexelgate Parkway, which is between Avon and Hamlin roads.

Emergency responders took the victim, a resident of Rochester Hills, to the nearby Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, where he later died.

“A female subject was driving a 2018 Buick Encore southbound on Livernois Road and was turning left onto eastbound Drexelgate Parkway when she struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk,” the sheriff’s office reported. “The driver of the Buick Encore was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.”

The driver of the vehicle is a 77-year-old Rochester Hills woman.
