Four Oakland County teams win regionals

Brittani Mutter threw a one-hit shutout for Walled Lake Northern, striking out 12 in a 1-0 win over Rochester Adams in the title game of the Division 1 regional game at Oxford on Saturday.

It’s the second regional title for the Northern program, first since 2017.

The Knights (31-7-1) advance to Tuesday’s quarterfin­als at Marysville City Park, facing Macomb Dakota at 7:30 p.m.

Taylor Behrendt scored from third on Marisa Mazoway’s sacrifice fly in the sixth to plate the only run of the game.

Ella McDonald had the only hit of the game for Adams. Kayla Turmell and Peyton Skiver had two hits each for the Knights.

In the regional semifinals, Walled Lake Northern beat North Farmington, 13-0 in five innings.

Mutter and Caitlyn Mullins combined on a one-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking two.

Marisa Mazoway (2-for-3, 4 RBI) homered for the Knights, while Kiana Morgan (2-for3), Mullins (2 RBI, 2 runs), Ava O’Connell, Lauren Fox and Taylor Behrendt (3-for-3, 3 runs) all had doubles.

Hannah Hart had the only hit for North Farmington (18-14-1).

Adams (30-8) got past Lake Orion, 2-1, in the other semifinal, scoring two first-inning runs on RBI groundouts by Lilley Lutzka and Gemma Ugorowski, and relying on Sabrina Lee — who struck out six and scattered five hits, allowing one unearned run in the sixth — to make it stand up.

Madison Eckert was 2-for-3 for Lake Orion (28-9-1), scoring the lone run on an error.

SOUTH LYON 15, DEXTER 0 (5 inn.)

Ava Bradshaw threw a mercyrule shortened no-hitter for the Lions in the regional championsh­ip game, striking out 12 in five

innings and walking one, as the Lions won their second straight regional crown, and third in program history.

The Lions (36-3) advance to Tuesday’s Division 1 quarterfin­al at Adrian College, facing Mattawan at 6 p.m.

In the championsh­ip game, Grace Walters was 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and four runs scored, Bradshaw and Cece Dudek homered and drove in two each, and Emily Johnson was 4-for-4 with a triple and a double and four RBI.

Bradshaw allowed one hit and struck out 10 in five

innings in a 15-0, five-inning win over Ypsilanti Lincoln in the semifinals.

She also homered and doubled, driving in three runs, Johnson homered, drove in two and scored three, and Madison McKenzie doubled and drove in two.

FARMINGTON HILLS MERCY 10, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 0 (5 inn.)

Kaitlyn Pallozzi tossed a one-hit shutout in the championsh­ip game, striking out 11, as the Marlins beat Lakeview in a mercyrule shortened game.

It’s the second straight regional title for the Marlins, and 11th in program history.

The Marlins (31-3) advance

to Tuesday’s Division 1 quarterfin­al at Wayne State (4:30 p.m.), where they’ll face Allen Park, the team that ousted Mercy in last year’s semifinals.

Charlie Lambert was 3-for-3 with two homers and four RBI in the title contest, Gage Lambert went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and Pallozzi drove in three.

In the regional semifinal game, Asia Barbato allowed one run on five hits, striking out 12 in a 4-1 win over Grosse Pointe North.

Izzy Chaput was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Kat Burras had a solo homer, and Gage Lambert and Kendall Spivey both doubled and drove in a run.

In the other semifinal, Lakeview beat Berkley 16-6 in six innings, scoring

12 runs over the first two frames.

Lily Downes was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Raegan Dick was 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Bears (19-15).

BIRMINGHAM DETROIT COUNTRY DAY 3, ST. CLAIR 0

The Yellowjack­ets won their second straight regional title and third in program history with Lola Bagby’s one-hit shutout of the Saints in Saturday’s Division 2 regional championsh­ip game.

The Yellowjack­ets (22-91) advance to Tuesday’s Division 2 quarterfin­al at Saginaw Valley State University at 1 p.m., facing Essexville Garber.

Nyla Muskovin was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Storm Kentros doubled and drove in the other run in the regional title game.

Bagby struck out 13 in the title contest and walked two, after allowing one unearned run on four hits, striking out 10 in a 7-1 win over Imlay City in the regional semifinal game. Brooke Skiba was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Yellowjack­ets.

RIVERVIEW GABRIEL RICHARD 5, ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S 1

The Eaglets (21-7-1) had their inaugural season on the diamond end in the Division 4 regional finals, when Riverview Gabriel Richard scored three times in the sixth to open up a one-run game.

Macy Ward was 2-for-3 for the Eaglets, driving in their only run.

Maddy Anson struck out eight in the championsh­ip game, after giving up just one run on two hits and striking out 10 in the 12-1, five-inning win over Westland Huron Valley Lutheran in the regional semifinal.

Kylie Hinderlite­r was 3-for-3 with a triple and two doubles, driving in three runs and scoring three, while Ward doubled and drove in three more.

Gabriel Richard beat Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest, 12-0 in six innings in the other semifinal. Kamryn Kasak had the only hit of the game for the Crusaders (10-16).
